About Me
I graduated with my Ph.D. in 2016 from the University of Hildesheim by completing a dissertation titled „Invariant Features For Time-Series Classification“ which was evaluated with „Summa Cum Laude“ and subsequently awarded the Best Dissertation Award of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Hildesheim. Since January 2020, I was appointed as an Assistant Professor of Representation Learning by the University of Freiburg, where I lead the RELEA research lab. Throughout my research career, I have published in Data Science conferences such as ACM SIGKDD, AAAI, as well as journals such as Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, or IEEE TKDE.
Research Interests
In general, I am interested in learning end-to-end deep representation models for solving complex data-driven tasks arising from diverse-real world scenarios. I have been working on diverse Machine Learning challenges, such as time-series classification/forecasting and multi-relational learning for Recommender Systems. Recently, my research interests have shifted towards modern elements of Machine Learning, namely AutoML, Neural Architecture Search, Fairness, as well as Robustness.
Teaching
I teach the course "Machine Learning" at the University of Freiburg.
